You have a Mechanical Systems Unit Test tomorrow. STUDY! Helpful ways to study for Science include redoing the Check and Reflect questions, practicing using the formula, rereading notes, and doing the review questions at the end of the unit in the textbook. There are also short review notes at the end of the unit in the textbook. Good Luck!!
Your catapult project is due Thursday, so it would be better to study tonight and work on catapult on Wednesday night.

Today we started work on a chocolate bar project. To get a better understanding of scale, students will be making a scale model of a chocolate bar. As a bare minimum for homework the chocolate bar must have a 1 cm grid on it (8B&D) and they must have cut out a sheet double the size and put a matching 2cm grid on it (8A&C).
Science-
Today we took up the science unit test. Please let your parents know your mark. Finish reflection on test question.

1) Complete poster puzzle piece if not already finished
2) Cut out a piece of a picture. It must be 4cm x 4cm. You are to make a scale drawing of it using the scale 3:1 (enlarge it three times) and the scale 1:2 make it half the size. This means you will have to hand in both drawings on Tuesday and attach the original picture to it.
3) We will be starting chocolate bar projects on Monday. The students need a regular size chocolate bar wrapper (not the chocolate). Any kind of chocolate bar is fine.
Science
1) The floorplan blueprint is due Tuesday. If you have been away you were to draw a blueprint for a house main floor that is 600 square feet. It must include a kitchen, dining room, living room and entranceway and it must be a scale drawing.

In class today we worked on a class project for scale. Since work is being done as a class no work can be done for homework. Perhaps reviewing Chapters 1 or 2 from the beginning of the year would be a good idea. Anyone who was away today will not be able to participate in the activity. If you were away today, you need to cut a picture out of a paper or magazine and bring it in to class for Friday.
Science-
In class today students began work on a floorplan of a house. It is to be a minimum of 600 sq ft and is not for homework. If you were away today, try to get started on this from home. It must be to scale. Also remember that we will be starting Rube Goldberg projects next week, so check out his webstie for ideas if you have time.

Tomorrow we will be starting a new unit on Ratio & Rate, so homework for tonight is to look through the section in the textbook and create a title page for your notes that reflects the information in the unit.
Marking scheme: Title 2 marks
Pictures 6 marks (2 per picture)
Colour (3 for fully coloured, 2 for partly coloured, 0 no colour)
**This may be done on the computer, but all pictures must be referenced or it is plagiarism (stealing)

Science
There is no specific homework. Reviewing the start of the Mechanical Systems unit is suggested.

Today was the Mix and Flow unit test in Science. This test took up the majority of both classes. The only homework assigned was to complete vocabulary for sections 1.0 and 2.0 for Mechanical Systems. This is the new unit we will be starting in class tomorrow.

Parents, if you would like a parent/teacher interview and forgot to return the blue form that went home with the report card please try to return it Wednesday at the latest.
